Moncton man charged in carjacking appears in Truro Provincial Court

The Moncton man charged in a brazen carjacking in downtown Truro has been remanded into custody for a mental health assessment at the East Coast Forensic Hospital.

Thirty-five-year-old Lucas John Henderson appeared in Truro Provincial Court on Thursday, charged with robbery and possession of property obtained by crime.

A 60-year-old man was pulled from his vehicle near the corner of Prince and Waddell Street on Wednesday morning, and was taken to hospital for treatment.

The victim's iPhone was still in the car, and the Truro Police Service was able to use that to track the vehicle to the Great Village area.

The RCMP were called in and located the vehicle, and Henderson was arrested with the aid of a police service dog.

Henderson is due back in court on May 3rd for a show cause hearing.
