N.B. man charged in Truro carjacking released, court appearance set for June

A Moncton-area man accused in a brazen carjacking in downtown Truro early last month is due in court on June 20th to enter a plea to charges of robbery and possession of property obtained by crime.

The Truro Daily News reports 36-year-old Lucas John Henderson of Lakeville was released from custody during a recent appearance in Truro Provincial Court following a 30-day mental health assessment.

A 60-year-old Truro man sustained minor injuries after he was pulled from his vehicle near the corner of Prince and Waddell Street.

The victim's iPhone was still in the car, and the Truro Police Service was able to use that to track the vehicle to the Great Village area.

The RCMP were called in and located the vehicle, and Henderson was arrested with the aid of a police service dog.
