N.S. family's flight delayed due to father signing six-year-old daughter's passport

A Halifax man is warning parents they will invalidate their childrens' passports if they sign them.

Ahmad Hussein says Air Canada refused to let his six-year-old daughter Mimi onto a flight to Washington on Wednesday because he'd signed her passport – so they had to delay their travel until he could get her an new one.

Hussein says he'd only signed the document because a U.S. customs officer told him to three years ago and he can't understand why it became a problem because the girl had used it many times since then.

Air Canada says it's simply following federal government rules that state signing a child's travel document will make it invalid.
