N.S., N.B. pleased with CPP improvements

The Nova Scotia and New Brunswick government's are marking what they say is an important milestone for the Canada Pension Plan.

Federal legislation to implement improvements to the plan was proclaimed into law Thursday.

The legislation flows from an agreement reached with the provinces last summer to increase the maximum C-P-P benefit by about 50 per cent in increments over seven years, starting in 2019.

Nova Scotia Finance Minister Randy Delorey says the changes will help provincial residents without a pension plan while his New Brunswick counterpart Cathy Rogers says they will give future generations more secure and dignified retirement.
