N.S. trade minister heading to Vermont to discuss trading partnership with New England
Nova Scotia's Trade Minister Geoff MacLellan is heading to Vermont to attend the Conference of New England Governors and Eastern Canadian Premiers.
Government says the agenda includes discussions on the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), energy, electric vehicle innovation, and Canada-U.S. relations.
MacLellan says the meeting presents a timely opportunity to talk about Nova Scotia and New England's mutually beneficial trading partnership, especially in light of NAFTA negotiations.
The value of Nova Scotia exports to New England is about $1 billion annually, almost one-third of the province's total exports to the United States.
MacLellan is attending the event on behalf of Premier Stephen McNeil, who was recently in Washington, for trade discussions.
The conference is set to run Sunday through Tuesday.
