N.S. unemployment rate up, national rate hits lowest level in nearly a decade
Nova Scotia's unemployment rate edged up one-tenth of a percentage point in November to 8.8 per cent.
That's despite a gain of 1,000 net full-time and 400 net part-time positions as 2,000 more people joined the labour force.
The national unemployment rate, however, dropped to its lowest level in nearly a decade at 5.9 per cent.
The Canadian economy added 79,500 net new jobs in November, marking the 12th straight month of positive job creation as the country posted its best 12-month performance in 10 years.
