New Glasgow man charged with assaulting Halifax police officer

A 29-year-old New Glasgow man has been charged with assaulting a police officer after a traffic stop in Halifax.

Halifax Regional Police say they stopped a suspected impaired driver early yesterday morning on Morris Street and the man received a warning on the Roadside Screening Device.

Police say he was tasered after he became very agitated and physically confrontational, and officers then found, and seized, brass knuckles.

The man has also been charged with resisting arrest, uttering threats, and possession of a prohibited weapon.
