New NSLC President and CEO Appointed

Greg Hughes of Waverly, Nova Scotia has been appointed president and CEO of the Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation.

Finance and Treasury Board Minister Karen Casey made the announcement today.

She says, "Mr. Hughes comes to the role with extensive corporate leadership experience, which will benefit the NSLC as it continues to implement its expanded mandate."

The province says Hughes is an executive with a progressive career in financial management, business operations, leadership, and client relations, and has spent more than 20 years with CIBC in Halifax and was formerly general manager of operations for Atlantic Canada.

According to a press release, the appointment follows a national search conducted after the departure of former NSLC president Bret Mitchell in February.

The appointment is effective May 31.
