New seafood brand designed to promote N.S. products internationally

The Nova Scotia government has launched a new seafood brand designed to promote products in international markets.

Fisheries and Aquaculture Minister Keith Colwell showcased the new seafood brand – simply called Nova Scotia Seafood – last week.

Colwell says the international brand will give the province and industry tools to deliver their message in key markets, and help to continue increasing the value of exports.

The brand package includes a logo, images, signs, videos and a website.

Nova Scotia was Canada's leading exporter of seafood in 2016 – for the second year in a row – with $1.8 billion worth of products sold to international markets.

The U.S. remained Nova Scotia's largest seafood export market last year, accounting for more than half of the total exports.

China came in second, followed by the European Union.
