New zoning type in the works in Truro
Truro's Planning and Advisory Committee (PAC) is looking to add a new zoning institutional type for former churches.
Planning and Development Director Jason Fox says there are around 20 churches in the town, and some are in low density, residential areas.
He says if the churches cease to exist, there have been concerns raised about what could go back into the spaces.
They're currently zoned as institutional, but that has a very broad definition and Fox says it could allow some things "you wouldn't want next door".
A new Neighbourhood Institutional Zone is still being discussed before being brought to council, and input from the committee and public are still welcomed.
