Nickel design from Millbrook's Gerald Gloade now in circulation
A Millbrook First Nation graphic designer's re-imagining of the beaver on the traditional five-cent coin is now in circulation.
Gerald Gloade's design, one of the winners of the My Canada, My Inspiration contest, was unveiled last November at a ceremony at the Millbrook Cultural and Heritage Centre.
In addition, Nova Scotians can get their hands on one of these new nickels at a free upcoming coin exchange, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. on Thursday at the Shoppers Drug Mart on Robie Street in Truro.
The national contest from the Royal Canadian Mint began in 2015 and garnered thousands of entries to create circulation coin designs for the Canada 150 celebrations.
