NOPIPE Land and Sea Rally Friday against proposed Northern Pulp pipeline

Fishermen and First Nations chiefs will gather on Friday to rally against a proposed controversial Northern Pulp pipeline.

Advocates say the effluent treatment system would pipe 70 to 90 million litres of pulp mill waste into the Northumberland Strait, home to lobster, crabs, scallops, herring and other fish.

Friends of the Northumberland Strait president Jill Graham-Scanlan says their goal is to protect the strait for future generations.

The  NOPIPE Land and Sea Rally is expected to draw people from all Maritime provinces.
