North Preston man charged after shots fired in Cole Harbour

RCMP say a North Preston man is facing seven charges after an incident in Cole Harbour last month.

Officers responded to a weapons complaint shortly before 10:30 p.m. on April 19.

Police say a motorist reported his vehicle was shot and struck on Clarence Street.

RCMP say 25-year-old Cambridge Jecoby Downey was arrested without incident during a traffic stop and on April 24 and is charged with the following:
- Attempt Murder
- Careless Use of a Firearm
- Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Possession of a Restricted Weapon
- Possession of Restricted Weapon with Ammunition
- Discharge Firearm with Intent

Police say Downey remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court on May 6.

The driver was the lone occupant of the vehicle and was not injured in the incident.
