Nova Scotia judge rules that once-cancelled Loney Bowl will go ahead

A Nova Scotia judge has decided the Loney Bowl is back on.

The Saint Mary's Huskies will face off against the Acadia Axemen Tuesday after a Halifax court ruled the football game must go ahead.

The outcome will determine which team will take on Western at the Uteck Bowl next Saturday.

The Atlantic championship football game was caught up in a complex legal battle over the weekend.

The Saint Mary's Huskies were put on the sidelines last week amid concerns about the eligibility of the Huskies wide receiver.

The governing body for university athletics in Atlantic Canada called off the quarter-final game and awarded the championship title to Acadia.

Atlantic University Sport executive director Phil Currie says the organization respects Sunday's ruling, but will continue to pursue the matter in court.

Saint Mary's Associate Vice-President Margaret Murphy says the Huskies are eager to prove their mettle on the football field.
