Nova Scotia to expand trail connections for ATVs, snowmobiles
The province is partnering with local municipalities and trail associations to give ATV and snowmobile users new places to cross the busy roads.
Government has announced a tunnel in Oxford that runs under the connector road into Oxford at Exit 6 off Highway 104, and a highway overpass for a new trail over Highway 105 in Baddeck.
The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal (TIR) says the total government investment is $2 million, in addition to $535,000 from the Trans Canada Trail Association for the Oxford tunnel.
TIR also says nine communities are being considered for a pilot project that would see increased off-highway vehicle access, including Amherst and Walton.
