NS child phones 911 - twice - to complain about salad
The RCMP are reminding parents to talk to their kids about the proper use of 911 after a 12-year-old called the emergency number twice to complain about salad.
Just before 10 p.m. Tuesday, Halifax District RCMP responded to a 911 call from a child who didn't like the salad they were given.
Before officers arrived at the Oyster Pond home, the child phoned 911 a second time, asking when police would be arriving and once again expressing dislike of the salad.
RCMP Cpl Dal Hutchinson says many people can relate to not liking a salad, but improper use of 911 ties up valuable resources, preventing emergency responders from dealing with real emergencies.
