NS man charged with second-degree murder in death of Annapolis County man in New Glasgow

Police have charged a man from Annapolis County, N.S., with second-degree murder in the death of a 39-year-old man who was found unconscious at a hotel.

New Glasgow Regional Police say officers responded to a 911 call at 2:40 a.m. Friday about an unresponsive male at a Travelodge on Westville Road in New Glasgow.

They say officers found the victim at the hotel not breathing and with signs of trauma, and officials took him to hospital in New Glasgow with serious injuries.

He was later airlifted to a Halifax hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Investigators say Jason David Bezanson, 33, was charged with second degree murder following a brief investigation, and is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.

Police say the accused and the deceased were known to each other and the matter is still under investigation.
