NSFM Spring Conference kicks off Wednesday in Truro

The Nova Scotia Federation of Municipalities' (NSFM) annual Spring Conference begins Wednesday in Truro.

The three-day event, hosted by the town and the County of Colchester, brings together municipally elected officials from around the province to discuss policy, network, and take part in several workshops

This year's topics will focus on issues including climate change, affordable housing, physician recruitment, and accessibility.

Rick Hansen is scheduled to address the delegates on Friday morning.

NSFM President Waye Mason says, "While provincial standards are still being developed, Mr. Hansen will be able to help our members better understand what accessible and inclusive means and what municipalities can do to support their communities and their residents."

This is one of two large NSFM gatherings held each year.

The Fall Conference, held in November, is where members vote on their top priorities for the coming year.
