NSTU to meet with premier on Monday

Nova Scotia Teachers Union President Liette Doucet is set to meet with Premier Stephen McNeil on Monday to discuss education concerns.

CTV Atlantic reports it has obtained a memo from the union to its members which says this weekend should be a 'local political action weekend' as the province moves into the final days before the sitting of the House of the Assembly.

The union is also asking its members to distribute pamphlets over the weekend through door-to-door visits of information pickets.

Education Minister Zach Churchill has said the government plans to pursue recommendations from the Glaze report, including moving principals and vice-principals out of the union and dissolving the provinces seven school boards.

The Department of Education did not respond to CTV News’s calls for comment on Friday.
