One man dead, another seriously injured following motorcycle crash on Cabot Trail: RCMP

RCMP say a 72-year-old Chéticamp man has died following a crash involving two motorcycles on the Cabot Trial in Grand Étang. 

Inverness District RCMP responded to the accident just before 5 p.m. on Saturday. 

The man, who was one of the riders, was pronounced dead at the scene. 

A 67-year-old Oyster Pond man, who was the rider of the other motorcycle, was taken to hospital by EHS to the Sacred Heart Community Health Centre in Chéticamp. 

Police say he was later transferred to the QEII in Halifax with serious injuries. 

An RCMP Collision Analyst attended the scene, while the highway was closed for several hours. 

The investigation is continuing.
