`Only 78' documentary set to screen at film festival in Halifax

The story of a Cape Breton fishing village that battled Ottawa over the fate of an aging seawall is set to screen at the Atlantic International Film Festival this weekend in Halifax.

The documentary, titled ``Only 78,'' focuses on the 78 residents of Gabarus, Nova Scotia, who refused to back down in their dispute with the federal government.

The timber and rock seawall had protected the village from the punishing waves of the Atlantic for decades, but when it began to crumble, no government help was available.

The villagers banded together and in 2014 won repairs for the seawall through a shared-funding agreement with three levels of government.
