Over 70,000 illegal cigarettes seized near Oxford

The provincial government says two men from Glace Bay have been charged after the seizure of more than 70,000 illegal cigarettes in Cumberland County.

Service Nova Scotia says the cigarettes were discovered during a traffic stop near Oxford on Saturday, adding that the men were arrested and the vehicle was seized.

Cumberland District RCMP assisted with the investigation.

Service Nova Scotia says the tobacco has a tax value of $19,264 in provincially and $14,700 in federally. 

The men are due in Amherst Provincial Court on November 27th to face charges under the Nova Scotia Revenue Act, Excise Act, and Criminal Code.
