PCs call on government to cut Engage Nova Scotia funding
Progressive Conservative Leader Jamie Baillie is calling on the government to cut funding ties with Engage Nova Scotia and end what he calls "a plum patronage job for another one of the Premier's Liberal friends."
The PCs say documents obtained through a Freedom of Information request show former Liberal leader Danny Graham is receiving $13,584 a month in taxpayer funds.
The party also released an expense breakdown of Engage Nova Scotia showing that nearly eighty per cent of the group's $566,692 expenses in 2015 came from taxpayers.
Engage Nova Scotia has a broad mission statement to "play a leadership and support role in engaging citizens and carrying out ongoing engagement activities".
Earlier this week, the Canadian Taxpayers Federation called for an end to the funding, saying the agreement is a "sweetheart deal".
