Pedestrian struck in New Glasgow dies in hospital

New Glasgow Regional Police say a pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle in New Glasgow on Wednesday has died in hospital.

Officers and EHS responded to a collision involving a Lexus and pedestrian at the McDonald's Restaurant driveway exit and East River Road in New Glasgow on Wednesday around 10:30 a.m.

Police say the 81-year-old male pedestrian was crossing the driveway exit in the crosswalk when he was struck by the vehicle attempting to exit the driveway.

New Glasgow Regional Police say the pedestrian was transported to hospital and passed away on Thursday.

The driver of the vehicle, a 76-year-old man from Pictou County was charged with Failing to Yield to Pedestrian in Crosswalk.

Police say they continue to investigate the incident and are asking anyone with information to contact the New Glasgow Regional Police or call Crime Stoppers.
