Police arrest three people, seize over 37,000 illegal cigarettes
A month-long investigation by Service Nova Scotia's Compliance and Special Investigations Unit has led to the seizure of thousands of dollars worth of illegal tobacco.
Two Halifax men, aged 56 and 54, and a 45-year-old woman, also from Halifax, were arrested with over 37,000 illegal cigarettes and their vehicle was also seized.
The individuals are facing charges under the Nova Scotia Revenue Act.
The combined provincial and federal tax value of the seized tobacco is more than 14-thousand dollars.
Halifax Regional Police also assisted with the investigation.
