Police conducting checkpoints over long weekend for Operation Impact
Nova Scotia RCMP will join police agencies across Canada in conducting checkpoints over Thanksgiving weekend.
Police say the checkpoints will be conducted by RCMP, Halifax Regional Police, and Cape Breton Regional Police Service, as part of Operation Impact, which is an annual national road safety initiative designed to improve safe driving practices.
The operation provides education and targets enforcement in the areas of impaired driving by alcohol or drugs, distracted driving, not wearing a seatbelt and aggressive driving.
Mounties are asking drivers to plan ahead this long weekend to ensure everyone safely arrives at their destination.
