Police investigate two cases of arson in downtown New Glasgow

New Glasgow Regional Police say they're investigating two cases of arson at the former Maritime Steel building downtown.

Police say emergency crews responded to a fire at the building around 11:40 p.m. Thursday.

Investigators say the fire was inside the building and consisted of a small amount of combustible items.

Police say crews responded to a similar fire at the former Maritime Steel building around 10:40 a.m. Tuesday.

The Major Crime Unit is continuing to investigate both fires, and anyone with information is asked to contact New Glasgow Regional Police or Crime Stoppers.
