Police issue warning following rash of thefts from vehicles in the Halifax area

Halifax Regional Police are warning people about a rash of thefts from vehicles in the Halifax area.

Police say they have received 15 reports of items stolen from inside unattended vehicles in the Clayton Park, Kearney Lake, Bedford, and Spryfield areas since Friday.

Items were left in plain sight and the vehicles were left unlocked in most cases, but police add that some windows were also broken.

Most of the thefts happened in the evening hours.

Patrol and Community Response Officers as well as the Quick Response Unit will be focusing efforts in these areas.

Police say if it's necessary to leave items in a vehicle, they should be locked in the trunk or hidden from plain sight.

Anyone who sees suspicious activity in or around parked vehicles are encouraged to call police or Crime Stoppers.
