Power outage in Oxford on Saturday to allow NSP upgrade work

A power outage has been scheduled in Oxford tomorrow so Nova Scotia Power (NSP) can upgrade aging equipment.

The utility says the majority of customers in the town will be without power from 6 a.m. until 1 p.m., while a small group of customers will only be without electricity from 6 a.m. until 8 a.m.

NSP says work was carried out earlier this year in preparation for converting electricity voltage in the community, including replacing 50 poles and making additional equipment upgrades.

Customers identified to be in the affected service area will receive an automated call to confirm the date and time of their outage.

This work is the final component of a three-phase $1.7 million project in Oxford.
