The provincial government has announced it will cover around one-third of the cost of a $97.9 million wastewater infrastructure project in Cape Breton Regional Municipality (CBRM).

Two new wastewater facilities will be built in Glace Bay and Port Morien, with upgrades to five existing wastewater facilities in the municipality.

Nova Scotia will fund $32.6 million, with $39.1 million from the federal government and $26.2 million from the municipality.

The province says in a release that the project will improve the quality of the existing wastewater facilities and wastewater being discharged, as well as help CBRM meet the new federal Wastewater Systems Effluent Regulations.
