Province announces community groups eligible for solar electricity projects

The Nova Scotia government has announced eighteen recipients for this year's Solar Electricity for Community Buildings Pilot Program.

Each of the successful applicants is able to generate solar electricity on their roofs or properties and sell it to their utility under a 20-year contract.

The province says there is no minimum requirement for the size of a project when applying, but a maximum of 50 kilowatts.

The program is for Mi'kmaw communities, registered non-profit or charitable organizations, municipalities or organizations owned by municipalities, and universities or community colleges in Nova Scotia.
