Province announces new housing unit for victims of domestic violence in Cumberland County
The province says women and children fleeing domestic violence in Cumberland County will now have access to a new safe place to call home.
The Autumn House is opening its second-stage housing unit in Amherst, which was unvieled Friday.
Government says the new duplex, called the Women Who Care Home, will be be managed by Autmun House, which is an organization that provides shelter, counselling, and support services to women leaving domestic violence.
Tenants will be able to stay at the duplex for one year and will have access to programs and services to help them make the transition to independent living.
The province says the federal government provided over $292,000 towards the project.
