Province issues request for proposal for local SANE program
We're one step closer to having a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) program for the Colchester, Cumberland, East Hants, and Eastern Shore areas.
The Nova Scotia Health Authority has issued a request for proposal (RFP) to find "a qualified organization to implement a SANE program based in the Northern Zone," which would be responsible for things like the management of day-to-day operations and collaboration with other SANE program providers and system partners.
The closing date for the RFP is July 3.
Two women came forward last year and said they were turned away from the Colchester East Hants Health Centre in Truro after being sexually assaulted.
In October, weeks after those stories were reported, Health Minister Randy Delorey said the premier had committed to having SANE services in Truro, although a timeline wasn't given.
