Province making changes to Emergency Services Provider Fund

Nova Scotia is making improvements to its Emergency Services Provider Fund to make it easier for volunteer fire departments and emergency services organizations to buy equipment.

The province says eligible organizations can now receive up to 75 per cent of the cost of approved equipment through the fund, which previously offered a maximum support of 50 per cent.

The program assists volunteer fire departments, ground search and rescue organizations, hazardous material teams, and volunteer first responder groups with buying approved equipment.

Applications are now open and will be accepted until June 9.
