Province to raise prize value limit for ticket lottery permit
The provincial government says an amendment to ticket lottery regulations mean organizations can raise more revenue in a single event and reach their fundraising goals sooner.
The change will increase the prize value limit for a ticket lottery permit from $500 to $4,000; the first increase since 1995.
The Alcohol, Gaming, Fuel, and Tobacco Division of Service Nova Scotia issues lottery permits and licences, with the prize value determining which is needed.
Organizations do not have to pay for a lottery permit, but there is a cost associated with a lottery licence, as well as the need to file a report.
