RCMP charge man who fled Bible Hill checkpoint
A 31-year-old Ontario man has been charged after fleeing an RCMP checkpoint in Bible Hill over the weekend.
Bible Hill RCMP had directed a man driving a truck without a licence on Saturday to pull into a parking lot, but the man took off instead and the truck was located abandoned at a nearby parking lot.
Truro Police K-9 were called in to assist and the driver was located hiding on the bank of the Salmon River.
RCMP say he jumped into the river as police approached and began swimming to the other side.
Local fire departments, Colchester, East Hants and Pictou Ground Search and Rescue, and the Nova Scotia Department of Lands and Forestry were contacted to help.
The man turned himself in to police on Monday and is charged with obstruction and driving while revoked.
