RCMP investigate theft of two vehicles in the Halifax area

Mounties in the Halifax area are investigating two separate motor vehicle thefts.

Police say a black 2010 Jeep Compass was stolen from the driveway of a house on Brooks Drive in East Preston sometime between 6 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday morning.

A brown 2003 Honda Civic was taken from an apartment building parking lot on Woodlyn Drive in Hammonds Plains sometime between 6 p.m. Wednesday and 2 p.m. Thursday.

Police say while they've seen a drop in motor vehicle thefts in the Halifax area, residents should still remember to lock their doors and remove keys from their vehicles.

Halifax District RCMP received 17 reports of stolen vehicles between January and March of this year, compared to 33 reports over the same period last year.
