RCMP investigating two fatal weekend crashes

Two people have been killed in separate weekend crashes on Nova Scotia highways.

The RCMP say a 77-year-old Lunenburg County man was killed around suppertime Saturday when the vehicle he was driving left Highway 103 in Gold River, going over an embankment.

A 79-year-old passenger in the car sustained non-life threatening injuries.

The RCMP say a 27-year-old Halifax woman was killed early Sunday morning on Highway 102 in Bedford.

The Mounties say the woman was a passenger in a car that had swerved to avoid hitting an animal.

The driver of the car sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Both crashes are under investigation.
