RCMP investigating use of counterfeit bills

Nova Scotia RCMP are warning the public of counterfeit bills circulating in Annapolis, Kings, Lunenburg, and Yarmouth counties.

Police say there have been multiple investigations into the presence of counterfeit bills in these regions over the past four weeks.

Some cases involved bills with symbols added or bills that have been defaced.

RCMP remind the public that passing counterfeit money is a crime.

Police also say consumers should be diligent when accepting cash as counterfeit bills cannot be reimbursed.

Anyone with information about these incidents or who has spotted currency similar to the bills described is asked to contact RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
