RCMP release quarterly provincial impaired statistics

Nova Scotia RCMP say 270 drivers were charged with impaired driving related offences in the second quarter of 2017.

Statistics from police show 231 were charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle by alcohol from July 1st to September 30th.

In addition, five were charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle by drug, and 34 others charged with refusal.

The RCMP also say that 113 people were issued driving suspensions for operating a motor vehicle while having consumed alcohol.

Corporal Jennifer Clarke says Nova Scotia RCMP responded to 86 collisions involving serious injuries in the second quarter and 11 fatal collisions.
