RCMP say 34-year-old Colchester County woman victim of fatal crash on Highway 102

RCMP say a 34-year-old Colchester County woman was the victim of a fatal two-vehicle crash on Highway 102 in Enfield on Tuesday.

Police say a 2011 Toyota Corolla, which was travelling northbound on Highway 102, crossed the centre median and entered the southbound lane striking the other vehicle head on.

The driver of the Corolla, a 36-year-old man from Colchester County, along with a 4-year-old boy, were transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Mounties say the woman, who was a passenger, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The second vehicle, a 2008 Toyota Rav4, was driven by a 50-year-old woman from Halifax.

The driver, along with her passenger, a 20-year-old Halifax woman, were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The four people injured were transported from the scene between EHS LifeFlight and ground unit.

They say the status of their injuries is unknown at this time, but are not considered life threatening.

The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.

RCMP, EHS, and Halifax Regional Fire responded to the collision just after 3 p.m. Tuesday on the highway between Exits 6 and 7.

The southbound lanes were closed for eight hours and traffic rerouted while an investigation was underway.
