RCMP say man charged with attempted murder following stabbing in Oxford

RCMP say a forty-one-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder following a stabbing in an Oxford home on Thursday night.

Ritchie John Leslie Pye of Oxford has also been charged with forcible confinement.

Police responded to the assault around 9 p.m. and found a man suffering from stab wounds and other injuries.

Mounties say the victim, a 58-year-old Oxford man, reported that he had been assaulted by a man known to him with a hammer and a knife, which were found by RCMP during a search of the home.

The victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The suspect had fled the scene, but was later arrested in his home and appeared in provincial court yesterday.

The investigation is ongoing.
