RCMP say two men dead following fatal crash on Highway 101

RCMP say two men have died following a fatal two-vehicle crash on Highway 101 near Spa Springs.

The vehicles were discovered in a ditch on Friday night between exits 17 and 18 by an RCMP member who was patrolling the highway.

Police say a 42-year-old Cambridge man, who was the lone occupant of the westbound vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene, while a 57-year-old Mount Uniacke man was extracted from his vehicle, which had been travelling eastbound.

The man, who was the vehicle's only occupant, later died from his injuries.

RCMP say this was a head-on collision and the cause of the crash remains under investigation.

The highway was closed due to the investigation and reopened around 10 a.m. on Saturday.
