SiRT investigates after man injured in Halifax
Nova Scotia's Serious Incident Response Team is investigating after a man was injured as Halifax Regional Police investigated a potential assault.
The independent watchdog agency says the incident happened Sunday night after police were told that a group of people were trying to find a man in the downtown area, and that one member of the group was allegedly armed with a pipe.
The agency says a 24-year-old man suffered a facial injury when he was found by officers.
The team says the man declined medical attention at first, but later went to hospital and was treated for what is believed to be a fracture near his eye.
