SiRT no longer investigating Elmsdale collision
The province's police watchdog is no longer investigating Friday night's motorcycle crash in Elmsdale.
An East Hants District RCMP officer had flashed his lights in an attempt to stop a motorcycle driving without lights at night, through a construction zone against traffic and carrying a passenger without a helmet.
The bike was involved in a collision shortly after that.
Early reports described the injuries of one of the people on the motorbike as serious, making it a Serious Incident Response Team (SiRT) matter, so East Hants RCMP contacted SiRT.
But, the agency says the latest information indicates no one was seriously injured, so the matter no longer falls within the SiRT mandate.
The Serious Incident Response Team is responsible for investigating all serious incidents involving police in Nova Scotia, whether or not there is an allegation of wrongdoing.
