Solar electricity program opens applications for second year
The Solar Electricity for Community Buildings Program is now accepting applications.
Now in its second year, the provincial program is open to Mi'kmaw bands, registered non-profit or charitable organizations, municipalities or organizations owned by municipalities, and universities or community colleges.
Projects can be up to 75 kilowatts (kW), and applicants propose a price per kilowatt for the electricity they'll generate, with successful groups entering into a 20-year agreement with their utility.
Eighteen projects were approved last year, ranging from 7 to 50 kW.
