Speeding driver flees police, breaks down

The RCMP say a speeding driver on Highway 103 was caught after his vehicle broke down.

Police say the car was clocked at 130 km/h late Saturday night and sped away after the initial attempts by police to stop him.

However, as police pursued, the bumper fell off the 23-year-old man's car and it started to smoke so he pulled over.

Lucas Greek of Bridgewater faces seven charges, including dangerous driving, driving while prohibited, operating an unregistered vehicle, and operating a vehicle without insurance and a valid safety inspection.

He appeared in Bridgewater Provincial Court on Monday and will return on Wednesday.
