Major Midget Atlantic Hockey Championship: The top team from the Nova Scotia Major Midget Hockey League will face off against the New Brunswick champions on Sunday with a trip to the Telus Cup on the line.

The Dartmouth-based Steele Subaru Major Midgets and the Moncton Flyers will meet in the Major Midget Atlantic Hockey Championship gold medal game on Sunday at the East Hants Sportsplex in Lantz. The teams advanced to the championship final having posted the best round robin records at the event.

The Moncton Flyers finished the tournament with a pair of regulation victories, a shootout win and one loss, good for eight points and second-place in the standings. The Steele Subaru Major Midgets were undefeated in regulation during the round robin, wrapping up the tournament as the first-place club with a record of three wins and one shootout loss. The team’s lone loss came in a 3-2 shootout decision to Moncton on Friday.

Moncton closed out round robin play with a 7-0 victory over the host Cole Harbour Pro Hockey Life WolfPack on Saturday while the Steele Subaru Major Midgets handed the St. John’s Maple Leafs a 5-3 loss. It was the second loss of the day for the Maple Leafs who fell 6-0 to the Kensington Monaghan Farms Wild on Saturday morning.
