Spring weight restrictions begin in parts of Nova Scotia
Spring weight restrictions on provincial roads take effect in parts of Nova Scotia this weekend.
The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal says the restrictions begin at 12:01 a.m. Monday in Annapolis, Digby, Halifax, Hants, Kings, Lunenburg, Queens, Shelburne and Yarmouth counties.
Restrictions for provincial roads in the rest of the province start at 12:01 a.m. on March 13.
Officials say the restrictions protect roads that are weakened by mild and wet weather during the spring thaw.
They are expected to remain in effect for about two months, but that will depend on road and weather conditions.
