Sydney man facing charges after woman struck by car, pinned against home

Police say a 24-year-old Sydney man is facing charges after a woman was hit by a car in Cape Breton on Thursday morning.

Officials say Zachary David Mackenzie is charged with criminal negligence causing bodily harm and failure to remain at the scene of an accident.

He was charged and remanded to the Cape Breton Correctional Centre for a scheduled court appearance today.

Police say the woman was taken to Cape Breton Regional Hospital with serious injuries, after she was struck by the car that then smashed into a house on St. Peter's Road.

She was later transferred to Halifax for further treatment.
